This shot was one of those ‘last-minute dash, see what happens and hope for the best’ shots! As my friend and I didn’t expect much from a sunset as we waited by the shore of Derwentwater. The sky was cloudy and dull with very little interest. Having waited a while our attention was taken by a red squirrel in a nearby tree (the first we’ve seen in that area, a fantastic sight!). Then almost from nowhere and with no warning the sky changed behind the mountains, with the colours dialling up we shot down to the shore, set up and started shooting! With very little time to prep it was more a case of enjoying the moment, and if we got a shot great! This is one of the better shots that came out, not the best vantage point but the best we could make given the mad dash to capture something :)
A shot of the famous Ashness Bridge - a traditional stone-built bridge on the single-track road from the Borrowdale road to Watendlath, in the Lake District
A panorama overlooking Derwentwater, Keswick, and Bassenthwaite Lake from Surprise View (and it really is a surprise!, you don't expect the view until you're right up in it!)
A spectacular scene unfolded as the sun rose over Hope Valley. When the sky turned golden the amazing light hit the cloud inversion below turning the mist into a sea of silky gold…
As a cloud inversion hugs the valley floor, a few trees stand tall enough to pierce through and become highlighted by the brilliant morning light.
A grand vista as a cloud inversion rolls over the Hope Valley floor, gloriously lit by the rising sun!
An end of August sunrise over Hope Valley, Derbyshire. With a cloud inversion making for a fantastically dramatic scene. More images from this morning's capture to come, but first some much needed sleep is in order!
An April sunrise casts beautiful shades of muted pinks and blues over Derwentwater in the Lake District. Such a calm and peaceful scene (if not a bit chilly!)
